Raw chicken should not be left at room temperature for more than an hour. Freezing doesn't kill food-borne bacteria, but thawing it on the counter can taint raw chicken. Be careful to avoid cross contamination by thoroughly washing hands, surfaces and utensils that have come in contact with raw chicken.
