One question that each generation asks is; whether or not we are properly using technology for the better of our society?

For example, a more specific question, relevant to our generation would be; How are we using the internet for the better of our society?

Well, this article is NOT about to tell you about the benefits of technology (that's coming too) rather about the darker side.

For many years, ever since I was a teenager, I have been hunting down hackers, spammers, virus spreaders, spyware creators, and the most malicious, evil, slimy and disgusting individuals and organizations that live and dwell in the dark corners of the world wide web. I have guarded and protected homes, schools & businesses using the most advanced techniques in the industry. From simple antivirus systems to the worlds most sophisticated Intrusion Detection Systems. I have studied spam. I have fought fire with firewalls.

The negative energy is strong. The malicious intent does not stop. It keeps growing. To the point that the vast majority of todays internet traffic is garbage. If you don't believe me, look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_%28electronic%29

It must stop. It is out of control. We cannot let it continue.

If you care for the pollution of the Earth, then don't forget that the pipes underneath your feet that carry information to and from your fingertips is being polluted by cowards who hide behind the anonymity of the internet.
The more they create garbage, the bigger the pipes need to be to carry the garbage and the domino affect is just to create more machines to carry the nonsense around. It's so ridiculous that this garbage spreads from home to home, site to site, pc to pc, server to server creating the virtual slums of society.

Why?

- Why phishing?
- Why false reviews?
- Why fake identities?
- Why viruses?
- Why spyware?

Is it only to take advantage of unaware individuals?
Money?
Ego?
Adrenaline?

Please write me, I truly want to understand what the fight is about in order to put an end to it.
